Today, on the fourth episode of Bois & Bar Talk Season 4, we are drinking I Love Lamp by Evil Genius Brewing Company out of Philadelphia, PA. We continued our journey to find different style beers, and this one was pretty unique.
I Love Lamp is a german style hefeweizen. It had a very yellowish color and we poured it into a glass. Very foamy right from the first pour. Even Kev’s professional pouring still managed to get half foam, half beer in the glass! Bright white head and has a banana aroma.
Overall, it was kind of refreshing on the first sip. I Love Lamp is a wheat ale and has an ABV of 5.5%. Mostly you could find I Love Lamp available in the summer. The taste has banana with a twist of pineapple. We rated this one a little later in the episode so we got some extra tasting before making a decision. Even though the first sip was impressive, it did dwindle a little bit as we went on. Not too bad however, and we thought it was an alright beer to have!
How We Rated I Love Lamp
- Rob’s Rating: 6.5/10
- Kev’s Rating: 6.2/10
We kick off the show reminding everyone to check out the website Boisandbartalk.com to check out all of our episode posts. We do show notes and ratings for every beer and every episode.
During I Love Lamp, we brought up the trend of food decorations. With Instagram and Pinterest around, people love to take pictures of their food. It’s becoming more important to deliver a strong presentation with food when you go out to eat.
We did a hot take on edibles and decided if we think they are overrated or not. With experiences in the past, it’s not something that we like to really do anymore. Recreational cannabis use in general is pretty popular, but we will stick to the beer at this point in our lives.
We capped off the episode talking about what we did for the 4th of July. It was a classic trip to Yankee Stadium for a matchup with the Mets! We had plenty of great stories for this one including a rowdy train ride and interactions with fans.
